Percussion Pedals

Box Music Enteprises were one of the first Australian companies to pioneer an electronic approach to creating percussion pedals. The pedals incorporate a Piezo transducer pick-up which is mounted beneath the top plate and connected to the output. The sound is created by striking or "stomping" the plate which resonates through the pick-up and is then amplified through a P.A or amplifier. The sound is generally comparable to that of a bass drum but can be tweaked and E.Q'ed   to replicate a snare or tom.   The pedal can be used by solo players to create a simple rhythmic accompaniment or by bands to incorporate new dynamics to their sound. While traditionally played by stomping or tapping with the foot, new sounds can be created by using the palm, fingers or a drumstick.

  Percussion pedals or "stomp boxes" as they are more commonly known have been popularized by folk, blues and roots artists and are now commonly used across a broad spectrum of music styles including hip hop and ska.

Stomp Box

This is the original percussion pedal designed and created by Box Music in 2007 which employs the simple technology that is now universally used in stomp products. It is played by tapping, stomping, scraping or striking the plate and the sound can be manipulated by making contact to different parts of the box. It can also be used as a hands free trigger for samples or loops.

The "Supastomp Box" uses the same technology but utilises a Shadow Piezo pick-up that improves the tonal response.

Twin Stomp Box

The "Twin Stomp Box" is equipped with 2 plate transducers for more sound and beat options. The signal can be sent out as mono or split via a switch into 2 channels allowing more control over sound. With a little tweaking, the "Twin Stomp" can be adjusted to produce two distinct sounds to replicate a typical drum beat. It can be used with the heel and toe of one foot by placing the pedal in line, or with 2 feet by placing the pedal sideways. The "Twin Stomp" can also be played like a percussion instrument with the hands, fingers and thumbs and can be used as sample or loops triggers.

Kick Box

This great new design revolutionizes the idea of a stomp box by incorporating a traditional bass drum pedal that strikes the plate allowing consistent tone and volume as well as ease of playability. Not only does it look cool, but it provides the user much greater control over the speed and power with which the stomp box is struck and allows for beats to be played at a much greater tempo with better consistency and less fatigue.

The pedal is fully adjustable and comes with its own set of allan keys for height and tension adjustment as well as adjustable spikes for better traction on flat surfaces. The beater can be adjusted to strike the plate in different areas, allowing the same variety of tones achieved in the other models.
